Digital Literacy Programme - Day 2

The First Day was Awesome.Everyone Eagerly waited the day-2 of the Digital Literacy Programme.
Meanwhile we have earned a lot of FANS in the School.Our entry into the school made us feel like one of the Famous Persons and we had Children all around us "Eppanna Class Edupinga????".

The above Statement Motivated our Dedicated group of Volunteers .

The Class sessions Started, the Sessions Started with great Enthusiasm.

This time a few more Volunteers joined us..

I never Expected that Day-2 Would turn so Interesting.

# Around 12.15.Our Visiting Lecturer Mr.Nazeeb mohammed Joined the session.

# During Lunch we Munched and shared a few Lunch Boxes brought by Adhi and Manju.

# After Lunch we had Combined Sessions..Ms.Paint being handled by Mr.Nazo.

# Adhi had some function the next day,so she told me that she would unavailable for the program the next day.As soon as the News Reached the students they came to me and Adhi giving recommendations for Adhitya to Come the next day.Adhi had a tough time in consoling them.

# We then had Indivual Photo Sessions.The Students almost made me take Indivdual photos about them.

# Then at last some INtelligent-girl in the class started to ask for our Phone Numbers.This Spread Viral and Almost we need to autograph our Phone Numbers around 80 Notes.

# Suddenly a Fight(The Suki's Student Batch were so Eager in Pulling here Cheeks ...) Outbreak between Sukirtha Sree and the Kids.I almost faced a tough time in resolving this.

# After the hard toil,We said in Unison "Class Disperse"...

# We eagerly awaited Day-3..Took Some Group Photos and left the School...

Digital Literacy Programme - Day 1

       After all the Planning was Done.The Microsoft Digital Literacy Programme was Ready for Deployment.The Great Day 19-06-2012 arrived.I made subsequent calls to all the volunteers thereby helping them in reaching the Venue

       I had all the Volunteers at the Campus On time....Let me First Populate the Volunteer List here before i Proceed on Day-1.

     The Day was awesome.Every Student was keen and attentive.We handled a batch of 80 students.They were from the Sixth Standard.

Highlights.

# We gave an activity for them to draw Computers.
# We got a lot of Fans.
I had a few Key Learnings from the students there which i would like to share.Check below the album.

~ There were students from three Sections.

Section-A :English Medium
Section-B&C:Tamil Medium.

~ The students had entered into computer labs fewer than 3 times.
~ The Staffs don't have Sufficient Computer Knowledge to teach them.
~ Only the 11th and 12th Students were allowed to use the labs.
~ The Students have to take "Government Food - Sathunavu "Compulsorily.
~ They will be given Free uniforms only if they have the Food Under the Government Scheme.

Digital Literacy Programme - Pre Event Venture.

             Previously I have made a post on what the Digital Literacy program.I thought of Deploying it in real.So I asked a few of my friends and seniors who stood motivated with the thought of spreading Literacy all around and have been a source of constant support during hosting of various Programmes at my college premises.They Promised me with their Whole-Hearted support throughout the Programme.

            So I thought of visiting schools and collecting datum about the school's Knowledge about the Digital World[Knowledge about Computers].The Day before i contacted a few Friends of mine.I thought of taking help from a girl since people at government sectors don't give a hell about any issues or speak responsible to a volunteer[In some Cases they may sound harsh too]. So the general psychology is people wont be so harsh with the girls and they tend to give Responsible answers the polite way.So i took the help from one of my Best Friend.Ms.Sukirtha Sree who is inspired a lot about this programme.I Prepared an Agenda which clearly portrayed the goals,the Syllabi that we are gonna cover.Since this was necessary in order to go about the programme.

           First we Visited Corporation School near P.N.Pudhur and got a reply from the Head Master who emphasized the proper channelization of the request.Here let me give you what we learned at the first point of time.

This Might help you in any of the future Ventures or any volunteering work you do about in any of the Government Schools.

"Let us See about the Classification of Schools Basically there are two types of schools in Public Sector...



# Corporation Schools -Run by the individual Corporations
# Government Schools-Run by TamilNadu Government.

There are other type of Schools like Matriculation Schools,Anglo-Indian Schools,CBSE Schools and the Panchayat Union Schools and The Municipality Schools and still more indepth classifications persists.Let me not go into that deeper.

So we wanted to concentrated on the Corporation and Government Schools which we first targeted in order for our Fresher Experience.

So they told us we need to Obtain permission from The Commissioner,Coimbatore Corporation.
For Government Schools,we need to get Permission from The Chief Educational Officer,Coimbatore.

This will be a tough job for us.Though I have references that might help me in obtaining permission.It would take a lot of time in figuring a proper way and getting persmission.

We don't want to waste the day so we went to The Second School after our Lunch.This time it was Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School,Ramanathapuram.We realized that there is Visitor's time Space for us to visit after school hours.Though Insisted by watchman we went in to meet the Head Master...Which turned out to be the Head Mistress.She had a Smiling apporach and received us well .She heard us Patiently.Later she also emphasized on the permission and we told we would do that and gave our contact details and left the school heavy hearted.She told "Looks like a tough job for us" and we thought of going for the next school instead of bragging about the previous school Venture.

The third school  we visited was Govt.Girls Higher Secondary School,Ondipudur.This time we had to wait for more than half an hour.We learned that the H.M. is retired and A.H.M. is in position now.

After a long wait we got an opportunity to see the A.H.M and this time we explained it more clearly and she was so sweet and din't speak of anything else .She said that the children here are not updated or had a practical exposure to computers.Event he Staffs were not that much equipped.

So she requested for an immediate Program Deployment,The next day Itself.

I Agreed Instantaneously !!! since we are running out of time as our college was about to be re-opened shortly.

Thank God We got one school to our hardships faced...

I need to plan for the program immediately...

I was Indeed enthralled to see the above Website and thought that TamilNadu Government is indeed in Pace with Technology.

          Few days ago I was cleaning my room,when i was going through my files,I Noted a small piece of Paper printed with words such as "TamilNadu..Employment...Renewal... July 2012.." Ahh!! MAN !! I need to renew the Employment Registration.Though people don't get pretty good jobs or even call letters from the TamilNadu Employment Exchange,people always do this renewal kind of stuffs.I had indeed seen people getting call letters after 35 years of age based on the seniority.This TASK went into my @TODO LIST.

          When speaking of Registration at the first point of time in my 12th.I went there around 7.00 AM. and stood in a long line and got my job done only around 11.30 in the afternoon.So this renewal thing startled me with a vision of an entire day pulled in the process.Suddenly i asked my Friend and came to know that he had heard people talking about the renewal process being done online.

           Our Best Friend google came to my AID and i started to google and got the link of the website

           People might actually think What the hell this Employment Registration might do.Who knows The Vision Man Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam's Dream of India 2020 might Result in a new way of Appointing Persons for Government Projects or Jobs or something Fruitfull might Happen.

Warning :

      In case of Renewal don't create a New Profile in case you have already Registered manually at a Employment Exchange. Just Click Renewal [If you have doubts follow the guide lines here, The official Government Telephone Helpline is Dead ]. Else You will Lose your Seniority.

Login/Renewal Procedure :

          People might consider this post so dumb. The question might came do we look dumb to read on seeing on how to register or renew. It doesn't go like that a few hints might help you from not losing your head in the process.

 Pre-Requisites :

         $ 10th Mark sheet
         $ 12th Mark sheet

         $ Community Certificate [Reservation Scheme plays a major role in the seniority & the Job Allotment process.]

         $ Aadhaar Card[If you have one].

Fresh Registration:

Renewal :

        # I Went mad on performing these.It almost took me 20 attempts in getting it done.

#User ID :

        # Generally User-Id is a 16 Letter Word Consisting of Five Parts

          For Eg.CHP1998F00007054

                   Dissecting it :

             

                     CHP  - Exchange Code. 

                     1998 - Year of Registration.
                     F      - Female.[M in the Case of Male ]

                     7054 - Registration Number.

                Pad the rest of the 16 Digit user ID with Zeroes.[This is where people get it Wrong].

#Password :           
                Password is your Date of Birth .
                For Eg. My Date of Birth is 26th October,1991.
                So the Password should be "26/10/1991"
                Note: The password should include the Front Slashes too.

Professional Courses Registration.

                  After you are logged in you will have a link for Professional Courses Registration.Generally these type of Registrations can be done only at Chennai and Madurai.But in Online Just Click the Home Button and then Check for the Link "For Registering at Professional & Executive Employment Office Chennai/ Madurai - Click here " and fill in and update the Details.

Finally Take A Print out of the ID Card and keep it for your Reference.

Beggars in Trade !!! Beggars too have a role-play..

          

              When People used to describe India .(i.e.,) when they describe India as a developing country,often what comes to all our minds (maybe a You-tube Video) is Rich heritage and then there will be a glimpse of the beggars on the road,showing the poverty in Rich-INDIA.So most people have a misconception that avoiding poverty means no Beggars on the road.The incident that i saw today made me how the shop keepers use these beggars to make the Coin Exchange -Denominations problem simpler.

                I was in a bakery having tea with my friends after a tiresome work.Suddenly a beggar appeared at the doorstep of the bakery.I thought that the Bakery-Person would chase him away.But instead they entered into a conversation and suddenly the beggar gave money to the Bakery-person to my astonishment and in return he gave a few notes to the Beggar.Later I learned that these Beggars used to get the money mostly in pennies - Smaller units of denominations.So these shop Keepers are highly in need of these smaller denominations.So these Shop-Keepers Make a Coin-Note Exchange with these Beggars.Ah !!!! Great Next time when you have a Coin-Denomination problem prompt a Beggar nearby who might be able to solve your problem...Just Kidding or may be not...this can be true right.

                      This shows that they also take part in Day to Day Trade of Indian (petty)Businesses.So we can't regard them entirely a Non-Productive set of people.

Computers have taken over the world in almost all fields in this fast growing globe, to combat this scenario, students are in a position that computer education is“MUST HAVE” knowledge. The population of Coimbatore is majorly divided into three subordinates, of which we would concentrate on the student’s community, for now.

The students community is again classified into private and government ruled schools, where the dominant private schools have the facilities and infrastructures to educate the children in computer science and more over, it’s a part of curriculum on the move, we’ll have to highlight the minority group of people, which is in-turn Government schools, due to various issues in the Government and footprints of Political issues have drastically affected the students. Making the best use of this time, we’ll educate the children of an acceptable age about computers and the uses of computers in their day to day life.

The students would be given all the required materials for the purpose of learning. Even though there are several initiatives taken by the masses, its evident that it doesn’t reach our city and other neighboring places. We and our peer group would have this initiative as our primary goal to ensure that we render our service to the society in which we live. We would accomplish this mission of educating the children and raise the digital literacy rate in Coimbatore district and for which we are seeking support from people like you.

How does DLP work?

The volunteers would deploy the program with the provided resources in one of the remote rural government schools which is accessible by everyone by means of any transport.The student-teacher ratio would be 5:1., where there would be one staff for every 5 students, this is again to ensure that they are provided with individual attention and there is efficiency in what we perform. The syllabus is being framed and obtained from the Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum, which is being optimized for our city standards by our group of learned. Once the course is complete, the students will be writing an online examination, beyond successful completion of this task, the students would be granted with a certificate which is being specially issued by Microsoft as a part of Social initiative.
